Covid-19: Self-isolators, please dispose of rubbish safely

To help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Public Health England has recommended that residents who are self isolating double-bag their rubbish, including disposable cloths, tissues and any masks that may have been worn.

The London Borough of Hillingdon website is being updated as necessary. Do take a look as there is information concerning topics such as free parking, rubbish and recycling arrangements, facilities temporarily closed to the public such as libraries and the Harefield Civic Amenity Site (dump).

In particular, the current advice regarding rubbish and recycling states:
We are currently operating all services as normal; however, as we prioritise general waste and dry mixed recycling collections, your weekly garden waste service may be affected.
We will continue to collect your food waste on your normal collection day, even if we are unable to collect your garden waste.
If your garden waste is not collected, please leave your bags at the edge of your property and we will collect them as soon as possible.
COVID-19 - Elderly Scam Alert

Those who are registered with OWL (www.owl.co.uk) will have seen this warning from Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch, but we feel that everyone should be alerted to the dangers of accepting services from strangers.
Dear Watch Member,
Be aware that opportunists and criminals can take advantage of the elderly and vulnerable who are self-isolating.
Anyone being offered "kindness" by cold callers by way of running errands, collecting prescriptions and doing shopping should not accept services from strangers who may ask for cash up front, a credit card and its PIN, or gain trust simply to execute a more elaborate scam e.g. to access savings.

13/03/2020 UPDATE: From Theresa Villiers, In the light of today’s developments on Covid-19 Coronavirus, the lobby against the Mayor’s tube station car park plans has had to be postponed. It will not therefore be taking place on Thursday after all.
